LSFI invites you to its free Masterclass SBTi: How to Define and Implement Targets on Thursday, 21st January, from 9:00 to 13:00hrs.

What is the masterclass about?

Following up on the recommendations of the LSFI Working Group on Climate Measurement and Reporting, the LSFI is organising an in-person masterclass to delve into the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi).

The working group identified SBTi as the second priority for financial institutions in their journey toward net zero, highlighting its comprehensive methodology for selecting transition pathways, setting targets, and preparing for actionable steps.

The aim is to assist Luxembourg financial institutions in understanding how science-based targets can provide them with a clearly defined path to reduce emissions in line with the Paris Agreement goals. This masterclass will combine theory and case studies, offering the audience firsthand insights and best practices.

What is the agenda?

  • 9:00 to 09:45 – Registration & Networking Breakfast
  • 09:45 to 10:45 – Introduction to SBTi and Q&A
  • 10:45 to 12:45 – Case studies, and best practices from industry experts
  • 12:45 to 13:00 – Q&A and Closing Remarks

  • Hanna Senakosava, Sustainability Senior Manager & Group Investor Relations at 3i plc
  • Marie NEVEU, Environmental Specialist at Pictet Group
  • Pendar Ostovar, Head of Financial Institutions, Impact and Engagement at Science Based Targets initiative

For Whom?

The masterclass targets Luxembourg’s financial professionals, ideally those engaged in sustainable finance or with some exposure to the field. Previous experience or knowledge of SBTi is not necessary.

What is SBTi?

SBTi is a target-setting tool for financial institutions. This initiative is a partnership between the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP), the United Nations Global Compact (UNGC), the World Resources Institute (WRI) and the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF). It aims to provide financial institutions with a clearly defined path to reduce emissions in line with the Paris Agreement goals.
